The existing differences between the Anglo-Saxon and Roman legislation are increasingly more evident in a gradually more globalized world. The Gertrude Ryan Foundation emerges with the purpose of approximating the two legislative bodies in their respective terrains, by providing the venues for effective training and forming of law students and professionals.

The market demand for products and services, and the mobility of trained law professionals between the member countries of the EC and the USA , motivates the need for the development of a common educational base. This common education should be available to all professionals and students and should help to increase the legislator's knowledge, thus narrowing down the particular differences and forms of applying the law.

The marked influence that both Europe and the USA have upon the rest of the world, is not limited to the political, economic and cultural aspects of society, but is also increasingly evident in the legislative processes of other counties.

This influence, along with the need to educate all nations in the importance of the proper application of Human Rights Legislation, constitutes the basis of the fundamental mission of The Gertrude Ryan Foundation.
